The Wild Bohemians and Verizon Pioneers Celebrate Mardi Gras at Magee

Magee looked and sounded more like Bourbon Street on Monday night, thanks to a rousing Mardi Gras performance by The Wild Bohemians at a party hosted by the Verizon Pioneers.

The Wild Bohemians are a raucous Mardi Gras marching band comprised of many prominent local musicians. They get together each year to help Philadelphia celebrate Mardi Gras in style. Famous for their Fat Tuesday performances at World Café Live, The Wild Bohemians spent the day before partying with Magee patients, family, friends, and staff.

The band kicked off the evening a lively parade through Magee’s first floor lobby then up the stairs to the second floor dining room where they gathered a “second line” of revelers to enter the party area, replete with food, music, decorations, and of course, beads. The Wild Bohemians even paraded up to patient rooms, bringing the party to those unable to make it downstairs.

The Verizon Pioneers, the world’s largest industry-related volunteer organization, has been celebrating holidays at Magee for more than 10 years, and this marks the very first Mardi Gras performance at Magee by the Wild Bohemians.
