Save the Date: Night of Champions Returns May 2

Ah, springtime! For most people, this time of year signifies the return of the flowers, birds and the Phillies. But for Magee and the community we serve, spring is also indicative of something much bigger: the annual Night of Champions!

IMG_3019What is the Night of Champions, you ask? It’s an annual fundraiser that raises money for Magee’s patient and community programs, such as art therapy, wheelchair sports, horticultural therapy, our Facility Dog Program and much more. It’s an evening full of rubbing elbows with local sports celebrities, live entertainment, dinner, auctions, wheelchair sports athletes and a whole lot of fun.

This year’s event will be held on May 2 at Penns Landing Caterers in South Philly. Dinner starts at 7 p.m., but if you would like a chance to meet and greet with local athletes, you can join us at 6 p.m. for a VIP reception. Trust us — it’s  not to be missed! There will be live music by The Reverb Brothers (check out band member Gooch Nelson performing here), and, of course, our famous live and silent auctions! Can’t make it to the event? Not a problem! You can bid for auction items online — seriously! We’ll share the link when it’s live. But take our advice… if there’s something you really want, better get it as soon as the auction opens — they don’t last long!

The evening also includes the presentation of the 2014 Champion in the Community Award to Fred Duling and BAYADA Home Health Care. Fred Duling incurred a spinal cord injury during a fall at the Malta Boat Club on Philadelphia’s Boathouse Row in 2010. Since his injury, Fred has become a Magee Champion, serving on the Patient Advisory and Walk It Out Event Committees, as well as in Magee’s Peer Mentor Program.

BAYADA Home Health Care has been a longtime partner and supporter of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and people with disabilities. The annual BAYADA Regatta, the nation’s oldest and largest all-adaptive rowing competition for athletes with physical disabilities, is sponsored solely by BAYADA Home Health Care.
