Magee Hosts SCI Model Systems Forum

Last week, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital hosted The 39th Annual SCI Model Systems Therapy Leadership Forum in Philadelphia. Representatives from former and current federally-designated SCI Model System Centers gathered from across the country for this annual conference. The event included a reception in Magee’s new Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens, featuring live music from former patient Ryan “Gooch” Nelson; educational sessions; a vendor expo; tours of Magee; and a keynote address from former patient Suria Nordin and her husband Kirby Smith. Suria and Kirby spoke about their company Sunkirb Ideas, designing affordable and accessible home solutions for people with disabilities.

Since 1978, Magee has partnered with Jefferson to form The Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center of the Delaware Valley, one of only 14 federally designated model systems of care in the country.
