Magee Hosts 2017 Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

Magee’s Annual Sullivan Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament takes place this Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17 at the RiverWinds Community Center in West Deptford, NJ.  Eight teams from as far as San Diego and Ft. Lauderdale will compete throughout the weekend, starting at 9am Saturday.

Wheelchair basketball is an exciting sport of skill and teamwork. Whether you’re an athlete with an amputee, a spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, or another lower extremity disability, basketball is a great way to get exercise, have fun, and be challenged. The rules of wheelchair basketball are slightly modified to make the game more accessible from a seated position. To play the sport, athletes must be able to push a manual wheelchair independently.

There is no cost to attend the Sullivan Classic, and all ages are welcome. If you are free, come out and support the Magee Spokesmen!
