All week long, we’ve been pumping up the Segal Classic and all the great items up for auction – and tomorrow is the day! Even if you can’t make it to the Classic, you can still support the patients and families of Magee by bidding on all our great items up for auction… right on your smartphone or tablet.
Yes, that’s right! No matter where you are in the world, you can take part in all the excitement of the Segal Classic auction straight from your phone thanks to our latest hi-tech set-up with 501 Auctions. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Register
Go to 501auctions.com/segalclassic and select Register. Just fill out the form with your name, a password, email address, phone number, address and credit card info. Don’t worry, it’s secure – you won’t be charged anything unless you win an item.
If you plan on following along on your smartphone, be sure the enter your cell number instead of you home number. And to make it even easier, just check a box to have text messages sent to your phone whenever you’re outbid!
Step 2: Bid
Once you have registered, you can sign into your account on your smartphone. Once you’re signed in, you’ll stay signed up so you can get the quick draw on anyone trying to outbid you. You can then take a look at all the goodies up for auction, including sports tickets and memorabilia, travel, epicurean delights, golf outings, fashion and more.
To bid, just click on the item you want, and select Place Bid. You will then be prompted to enter your bid for that item. Here’s a tip: enter the maximum you would spend on this item and select Set as Max Bid. Your bid will appear as the next minimum bid (in this example, $150), but whenever anyone tries to outbid you, it will automatically take you to the next minimum raise.
Step 3: Stay Updated
Throughout the evening, you will be notified if you have been outbid the second it happens. We encourage bidding wars, so make sure you’re the one who leaves with the prize! If you win and are not at the Classic, you will be contacted by Magee staff to get your item.
Step 4: Other Ways to Win
Nothing in the auction striking your fancy? You can still support the patients and families of Magee straight from your smartphone. Just select Donate, and you can make a tax-deductible donation to Magee in any amount.
