How You Can Help Magee Patients This #GivingTuesday

Moving into its fourth-year #GivingTuesday is bigger than ever.  #GivingTuesday is a global initiative dedicated to celebrating generosity while giving back.  This year consider giving to Magee, help us change lives.

Funds raised on #GivingTuesday will support programs including Art Therapy, Horticultural Therapy, Peer Mentoring, Wheelchair Sports, and our Facility Dog Program.   These programs are not possible without your support.

Patients worked with our horticultural therapist Jeannette to create the Thanksgiving floral creations above.  Horticultural therapy in the greenhouse and on the 6th floor roof deck is a very important part of a patient’s experience at Magee.  Phil, a former patient, says “Being outdoors, working with plants was such a great feeling!”  For many patients, this is the first time they have been outside with nature in weeks or months.

Joey, our Facility dog works side by side with health and human service professionals to engage patients in sessions designed to improve functional outcomes, stimulate healing and recovery, and provide comfort and unconditional love.

Our wheelchair sports program provides people living with disabilities in our community an opportunity for fitness, peer support, and increased self-esteem.  Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby, and Wheelchair Tennis are all funded with your donations.

Art Therapy helps people increase self-esteem, reduce stress, inspire self-discovery and achieve insight.
