The Philadelphia Phillies’ 2008 World Series trophy will be on display at the 20th Annual Jerry Segal Classic golf outing Friday, September 25 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at Green Valley Country Club.

The Jerry Segal Classic—which takes place this year at the ACE Golf Club and Green Valley Country Club—is the region’s biggest golf fundraiser. Over the last 19 years, the Segal Classic, through golfing, sponsorships and silent and live auctions, has raised over $7.7 million for Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. Because the outing is run by volunteers who donate their time, every penny raised goes towards helping patients at Magee.

Money raised by the Classic goes towards equipment, cutting-edge technology, and providing food and lodging to the families and loved ones of patients so they can be part of the rehab/therapy process, even if they live far away.

Local celebrities who will be in attendance include Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, NBA Hall of Famer Billy Cunningham former Penn State football player and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital patient Adam Taliaferro, sports radio personality Howard Eskin, Phillies’ Director of Media and Public Affairs Scott Palmer, Flyers Legends Bernie Parent and Dave Schultz and former Eagle Mike Mamula.

(Taliaferro, Governor Rendell and Mayor Nutter will be at the dinner program portion of the Classic at Green Valley Country Club at 7:00pm)
