Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell is scheduled to attend the 20th Annual Segal Classic Golf Outing's live and silent auction on Friday, September 25 at 7:00 pm, at Green Valley Country Club on 201 Ridge Avenue in Lafayette Hill.   The Jerry Segal Classic—which takes place this year at the ACE Golf Club and Green Valley Country Club—is the region’s biggest golf fundraiser. Over the last 19 years, the Segal Classic, through golfing, sponsorships and silent and live auctions, has raised over $7.2 million for Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. Because the outing is run by volunteers who donate their time, every penny raised goes towards helping patients at Magee.   It’s a cause very dear to Segal, who became a patient at Magee in 1988 when a surgical error left him with quadriplegia. During his months of rehab and training, Segal vowed to walk again and to give back to the hospital. He’s been walking, organizing the Segal Classic, and of course playing golf, ever since.   Money raised by the Classic has gone towards equipment, cutting-edge technology, and providing food and lodging to the family and loved ones of patients so they can be part of the rehab/therapy process, even if they live far away.   Also on hand with Governor Rendell to show their support for the Segal Classic and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital will be NBA Hall-of –Famer Billy Cunningham, Flyers legend Bernie Parent, WIP 610-Am SportsTalk Radio Host Howard Eskin, KYW and former sports broadcaster Scott Palmer.   For more information on the Classic, visit SegalClassic.com or call (215) 569-4600.
