12/22/2008 - Philly Sports Writers Name Former Magee Patient as Humanitarian of the Year
In 2000, Adam Taliaferro severly damaged his spinal cord while playing football for Penn State. He was never supposed to walk again. But after spending three months at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, he walked out the doors unassisted, and began assisting those who needed his help and inspiration. This year, the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association recognized Adam's dedication.

11/18/2008 - Buoniconti Fund and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital to Host Fundraiser at Citizens Bank Park
The fundraiser will support spinal cord injury research at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and the Miami Project based at the University of Miamis Miller School of Medicine.

Pennsylvania State Senator, Christine Tartaglione, will receive the Tuttleman Award for Excellence in Healthcare at a luncheon at noon at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital on Wednesday, June 4.

05/22/2008 - Mark Chilutti of Northeast Philadelphia Receives Silver Antelope Award from Boy Scouts
As an eight year old boy, Northeast Philadelphia's Mark Chilutti joined the Boy Scouts - deciding to measure his character through merit badges and service to the community. Thirty one years later, Chilutti's character is still being measured through the Boy Scouts. On May 22, Chilutti was awarded the Silver Antelope, the Boy Scouts' highest award for distinguished service to youth within one of the four regions of the Boy Scouts of America. The award is made by the National Court of Honor and the recipient must be a registered adult member of the Boy Scouts of America. Chilutti received the Silver Antelope at the Northeast Region Boy Scouts of America Recognition Luncheon and Annual Meeting in San Diego, California.

On Friday, May 9, Howard Eskin received Magee Rehabilitation Hospital's Champion in the Community Award at the 8th Annual Magee Night of Champions.

05/09/2008 - Vince Papale added to list of local sports celebrities attending Magee Rehabilitation Hospital's Night of Champions Event on May 9
Vince Papale will be joining othe celebrities from the Philadelphia sports world, including Howard Eskin, Adam Taliaferro, Billy Cunningham, Fran Dunphy, Mike Mamula, and Brian Propp at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital's Eighth Annual Night of Champions held on May 9 at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall (doors open at 6:30pm).

05/01/2008 - Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Names Jeanne Doherty, MD, Assistant Medical Director
As of May 1, 2008, Jeanne Doherty, MD, will serve as the Assistant Medical Director of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Over her years of dedicated service to Magee - which was named in the May, 2008 Philadelphia Magazine as a "Best Hospital" for stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord rehabilitation - Dr. Doherty has been instrumental in assisting both the Magee Physician Group and Magee Administration in the areas of Quality Improvement and Medical Administration.

04/28/2008 - Famous Author/Aviator Stephen Coonts to Reunite with his Legendary Plane
Author Steven Coonts will visit the Northeast Philadelphia Jet Center to sign copies of The Cannibal Queen and swap stories with local aviators. Coonts is one of many generous contributors to Magee Rehabilitation Hospital's fundraisers.

04/24/2008 - Former Patient & Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Occupational Therapists Celebrate Successful Supply Drive
For former Magee Rehabilitation Hospital patient, Janet Margolies, occupational therapy was a lifeline. After a fall left her with a smashed femur and broken wrist in 2008, she came to Magee to receive occupational therapy - preparing for the activities of her daily life, which included everything from being able to work to preparing her own meals.

03/20/2008 - State Senator Tartaglione amongst New Board Members at Magee
Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, a leading rehabilitation center in center city Philadelphia, announced the appointment of state Senator Christine M. Tartaglione, Patrick M. O'Hara, Denise Rae Scott-Jones and Susan L. Springsteen to the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees.

01/15/2008 - Wheelchair Basketball Demonstration to take Place during U Penn/ La Salle Basketball Game
On Tuesday, January 15, at 7:00 pm, the La Salle Explorers will take on the University of Pennsylvania Quakers in the storied confines of the Palestra. But fans might find the most fascinating aspect of the night taking place while the two teams are in their locker rooms.
