Provides direct patient care that is based in nursing and rehabilitation theories and standards with the goal of restoration of health and function.
Provides direct patient care to an assigned group of patients, which is prescribed after thorough nursing assessment of the patient needs. Care can include but is not limited to: grooming, dressing, feeding, bathing, lifting, turning, assisting with elimination, wound treatments, respiratory treatments, delivery of medication, medical regimen prescribed by a licensed physician.
Responsible to practice within the framework of the nursing profession as defined by the Professional Nursing Law of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Code of Professional and Vocational Standards.
Provides patient care within the established policies, procedures and guidelines of the Nursing Department, Hospital and Program.
Act as the patient's advocate protecting the patient's rights of self-determination and informed consent. Documents are delivered according to department and hospital procedures.
Maintains confidentiality of patient information and records.
Demonstrates knowledge of safety procedures to protect the well being of patient, self, co-workers and visitors. Safety plans include the Department of Nursing Safety Plans, infection control, fire regulations, disaster plans, emergency procedures and all plans listed in the hospital safety program.
Coordinates care for assigned patients including the supervision of activities provided by ancillary nursing personnel.
Graduate of a diploma or associate degree program in nursing required
Bachelor of Science degree in nursing preferred
Licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Experience in rehabilitation nursing preferred but medical-surgical nursing experience required
Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
Shifts will range from 7a to 7p and from 7p to 7a (12 hour shift weekend program) weekend commitment of 5/6 with a one-year commitment to the program
