On Monday, October 3, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and the Adam Taliaferro Foundation will hold their first joint fundraising venture: a golf outing at the Green Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, PA.

Adam Taliaferro is a former Magee patient. While playing football for Penn State in 2000, Adam received a spinal cord injury while making a tackle.

But Adam won't be the only former Magee patient helping to raise funds Monday for spinal cord injury research, rehabilitation, and quality of life programs supported by both the Adam Taliaferro Foundation and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.

Local blues  &  rock band, 61 North, will be playing during the cocktail reception portion of the festivities (which will include dinner, cocktails and live and silent auctions), and the band's lead guitarist, Ryan "Gooch" Nelson was a patient at Magee in 2004 after sustaining a spinal cord injury in a car accident. But thanks to his therapists, some determined musicians and an adaptive glass slide, Gooch and his band are bringing the house down at gigs all over Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
