In 2004, after a near-fatal car accident left Ryan GoochӔ Nelson with a spinal cord injury, he thought his days of playing the guitar were over.

But thanks to his therapists at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, some determined musicians and an adaptive glass slide, Gooch and his band 61 North are bringing the house down at gigs all over Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

And the Gooch and the band are bringing their talents back to Magee.

On Friday, May 6, 61 North will be entertaining guests at Magees 11th Annual Night of Champions fundraiser, which will be held from 6:00 pm till 9:30 pm at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall on 1301 South Columbus Blvd., in Philadelphia, Pa.

MageeҒs Night of Champions includes dinner, raffle prizes, music from local band 61 North and auctions of autographed sports memorabilia, exclusive gifts, restaurant certificates, getaway weekends, and travel packages. All funds benefit the Hospitals Patient Programs such as wheelchair sports, chaplain services, horticultural therapy, art therapy and the patient resource center.

Tickets for Night of Chanpions are $125 and can be purchased by calling 215-587-3090. To learn more about 61 North, email them at 61northband@gmail.com
