Magee Rehabilitation Hospital will present its 2011 Champion in the Community Award to Stuart Greenberg, a Program Director in the Philadelphia Parks&Recreation Department, for his constant support of wheelchair sports.

The award will be presented at Magee’s Eleventh Annual Night of Champions fundraiser on May 6. The event-- featuring dinner, music, raffle prizes and live and silent auctions-- benefits Magee’s Patient Programs, which provide an array of programs for our patients during their hospital stay and after they return home to the community. The funds raised at the Night of Champions will help support a variety of patient programs including Wheelchair Sports, Art Therapy, Horticulture Therapy, Patient Resource Center, and Chaplain Services.

Mr. Greenberg, a longtime Magee supporter and wheelchair sports advocate, has proven himself to be a community leader who supports and advocates for individuals with disabilities. He has been the Director of the Katie Kirlin Junior Wheelchair Basketball Tournament since its inception in 1999, organized the first summer adult wheelchair basketball league in 1993 (which boasts its 20th season this summer), and was the Director of the Carousel House- which is the city’s only recreation center dedicated solely to serving individuals with disabilities- from 1992-2003.
The Eleventh Annual Night of Champions will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall at 1301 South Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia. The event is open to the public and tickets are $125.00. For more information on tickets or sponsorship opportunities, call 215-587-3090 or visit MageeRehab.org.
