08/13/2012 - Magee Rehabilitation Acquires Myomo mPower, A Functional Arm Brace Designed to Restore Movement to Weakened Arms
Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and Myomo, Inc. have partnered to bring the first Myomo mPower 1000 to the Philadelphia area. The Myomo mPower 1000, a portable, lightweight functional arm brace that restores movement to a weakened arm as a result of neuromuscular damage, provides a new modality through which Magee Rehabilitation can continue to deliver top-quality therapy from the hospital's nationally-recognized rehabilitation programs.

08/08/2012 - Magee Freedoms to Host Annual Wheelchair Tennis Tournament to Benefit the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Wheelchair Sports Program
The Magee Freedoms wheelchair tennis team, sponsored by Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, will host the Magee Wheelchair Tennis Tournament August 10-12 at the Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. This annual tournament brings together the Mid-Atlantic Regions top wheelchair athletes, with all entry fees benefitting the Magee Rehabilitation HospitalҒs Wheelchair Sports Program.

07/17/2012 - Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Named 16th in Rehabilitation in U.S. News Best Hospital Rankings
Magee Rehabilitation Hospital has been ranked 16th in Rehabilitation in the U.S. News & World Report's annual Best Hospital rankings, released today. This year's Best Hospitals, the 23rd annual edition, showcases more than 720 of the nation's roughly 5,000 hospitals. Magee Rehabilitation Hospital is one of fewer than 150 hospitals to be nationally ranked in at least one of 16 medical specialties.

07/10/2012 - Magee Rehab Teams Up with Casey Feldman Memorial Foundation for Facility Dog Program
Through the support of the Casey Feldman Memorial Foundation, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital has established its first Facility Dog program, adding a new official member to the Magee team: Ford, the Golden Retriever. Through Magees Facility Dog program, Ford works alongside trained health and human service professionals to support patients in their therapy and facilitate the rehabilitation process. This program will be recognized as part of the Casey Feldman Memorial Foundation's third annual "Angelversary" Day of Service on July 17, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.

06/12/2012 - Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Michael Vitez to Host Discussion and Book Signing at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital
Magee Rehabilitation Hospital will host a free discussion and book signing with Michael Vitez, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Road Back: A Journey of Grace and Grit on June 26 at 4 p.m. Matt Miller -- medical student, triathlete and the subject of Vitez's book -- will also be on hand to discuss his accident, recovery and life after a brain injury.

Philadelphia attorney and longtime supporter of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Jerry Segal will receive the Philadelphia Sports Congress Robert P. Levy Community Service Award on Tuesday, June 5 at the Wanamaker Athletic Awards Ceremony.

Starting this spring, outpatients in Magees Art therapy program will go on group outings to the Philadelphia Museum of Art where they will take customized museum tours at a discounted price and then create art in various mediums during their art therapy sessions at Magee based on what they experienced at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Patient art work would then be displayed as part of the Philadelphia Museum of ArtҒs Community Partners Annual Exhibit in the Education Corridor August - October.

01/17/2012 - Magee Rehab Hospital's Concussion Clinic to Present to Parents & Coaches of Girl's Basketball League at Germantown Academy Feb. 26
On Sunday, February 26, at 6:30 pm in the gym at Germantown Academy, 340 Morris Rd, Fort Washington representatives from the Philadelphia Concussion Center at Magee will present at a parent coaches meeting for one of the largest Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball organizations around, covering kids from Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, and part of DE counties. The organization includes 20 teams, with 250 girls, ages 10-17.

01/10/2012 - Magee Rehabilitation Hospital's Concussion Clinic to Present to Parkwood Youth Organization in NE Philly January 12
On Thursday, January 12, at 6:30 pm, representatives from the Philadelphia Concussion Center at Magee will present to coaches of Parkwood Youth Organization at 3301 Mechanicsville Road in Northeast Philadelphia on how to avoid concussions, recognize a concussion if one occurs, and how to treat them. Parkwood Youth Organizations sports program includes soccer, baseball, basketball, and NFL flag football.
