Jeanne G. Doherty, MD, joined the medical staff in January 2000. She received her BS in Biology at Saint Joseph's University and earned her MD at Georgetown University. She completed her internal medicine internship at Pennsylvania Hospital and completed her residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
She is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (PARF) and The Hospital and Health System Association Pennsylvania (HAP). She also enjoys her work as a volunteer member of the Guillain Barre Foundation, MANNA, Back on My Feet (BOMF) and Siloam. She has published in "The Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine," written chapters for leading textbooks in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and presented locally and nationally on rehabilitation related topics.
She enjoys providing long term care for her patients in the Magee Gaspar Outpatient Clinic and her administrative role as assistant medical director. She presents to the community on various topics including osteoporosis, falls prevention and rehabilitation care after joint replacement. She also provides consulting services as a physician adviser to review and make recommendations on utilization and disability cases. As clinical assistant professor for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Thomas Jefferson Medical College she enjoys teaching medical students and residents.

In addition, Dr. Doherty serves as a clinical resource and consultant to hospitals, law firms, third party claim reviewing firms, workman's compensation panels, commercial insurers, healthcare organizations and other appropriate entities to perform prospective, concurrent and retrospective rehabilitation related case reviews to address: medical necessity; policy compliance; level of care; length of stay; resource management; hospital reimbursement; appropriate coding; all levels of appeal; disability
She can advise, assist and educate treating physicians, hospital case managers, senior medical management, administration and all others involved in the delivery of rehabilitation services on the documentation of timely, appropriate and cost effective care to ensure compliance with hospital and CMS policy regarding inpatient rehabilitation admissions as well as the appropriateness of continued hospital stay.
