Dr. Guy Fried is the Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and the Vice Chair of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for Jefferson Health. In addition, he is a Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University and the Vice Chair of Quality for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Jefferson.

Dr. Fried has been a member of the Magee staff since 1989.  He attended Yale Medical School where he received his MD degree and Hofstra University in New York where he received a BA in psychology with additional studies in chemistry, biology and economics. Dr. Fried is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with additional board certifications in Pain Medicine, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, Brain Injury Medicine, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is the Rehabilitation Department’s representative in the Quality Improvement Patient Safety Leadership course in the School of Population Health at Jefferson.

Dr. Fried has twice received the Jefferson Rehab Residency Attending of the Year award for teaching. He was  awarded the First Annual Robert H. Condon Teaching Award by senior residents from the Department of Rehabilitation at Thomas Jefferson University, presented to a faculty member who demonstrated outstanding contributions to patient care and resident education.  He also received the Gerald J. Herbison, MD Award for Mentorship – presented annually to faculty who demonstrate exceptional commitment to mentoring residents, and the Dean’s Citation for Significant Contributions to the Advancement of Education at Jefferson Medical College. He has frequently been voted as one of Philadelphia Magazine’s Top Docs. He also has been named one of the Best Doctors in America and on the Castle Connolly list of America’s Top Doctors.
