Wellness Triumph of the Month: Curtis’ Story

Each month, the Health & Wellness Center at Magee Riverfront honors one of its clients as the “Wellness Triumph of the Month.” Today, meet Curtis.

In March 2016, Curtis was working as a driver at the Philadelphia airport and was involved in an auto accident that broke his cheek bone, ribs, and his C4-C5 vertebrae. He chose the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital for his inpatient therapy stay.

Upon discharge, he continued outpatient therapy at Magee’s Riverfront location, and joined the Wellness Center in November 2016.

Prior to driving at the airport, Curtis operated a printing press for 30 years. He also is a choir singer and a die-hard, four-by-four, Philadelphia sports fan. In the Wellness gym, he uses the Treadmill, NuStep, Rickshaw, and loves to stretch on the mat.

Curtis is very complimentary to the help he’s had along the way saying “the therapists and people in Wellness are so nice and easy-going, that’s why I love to come here.”

Curtis hopes to get back to singing on his church choir in the near future.
