National Nurses Week

A message from Magee’s President and CEO Jack Carroll.

This is a big week at Magee. And not just because the beautiful weather has made our 6th floor roof deck a happening place again. But because it’s National Nurses Week!

National Nurses Week is a time for us to recognize and thank the incredible nurses in our lives. This year’s theme is Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care, which is fitting for the nursing team here at Magee. Day in and day out, our nurses work tirelessly to not only provide our patients with highest quality of care, but they do it with the utmost compassion and patience. You see, the goal of our rehabilitation nurses isn’t simply to care for patients, but also to provide them with the tools they need to understand their bodies and minds—how they functioned before, how they will function now and how to handle these alterations.

As you can imagine, our nurses wear many different hats. They are caregivers, helping patients restore and maintain function, and prevent complications. They are teachers, preparing patients and their families for future self-management and providing education to the community. They are patient advocates, bridging the gap between medical and non-medical professionals to recognize the patient’s full potential and long-term needs.

In short, our nursing team is invaluable to what we are able to accomplish here at Magee. They help all of us believe in a way back. So this week, give your nurse an extra smile or thank you. They deserve it.
