Magee Staff BELIEVES in the Healing Power of Music Therapy

Magee employees are working together to make a difference.  Each year, Team Magee participates in the Employee Campaign to fund a project or program at the Hospital.  This year’s Employee Campaign will fund the creation of the Music Therapy Program to serve Magee patients.  Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs.  There are many benefits to Music Therapy, including relaxation, pain management, cognitive stimulation, fine and gross Motor skill development, and improved mood.

On July 11, Magee staff gathered in the Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens for a “Yoga on the Roof” fundraiser for the Employee Campaign.  There are other great fundraisers organized by staff including a bake sale and jeans day.  Magee staff shows its team spirit each and every day, and this is another great way to show how working together can make a difference.  The Campaign ends July 31 with the goal of raising $12,000 to help launch Music Therapy at Magee.  Employees have raised over $7,500 to date!
