Magee Hosts ‘Beast of the East’ Quad Rugby Tournament

This month, the Magee Eagles hosted the 26th Annual Beast of the East Quad Rugby Tournament at the RiverWinds Community Center in West Deptford, NJ. Eight teams from all over the region came out to compete: Medstar NRH Punishers, EWAF New York Warriors, Global Abilities Fury, Maryland Mayhem, Pittsburgh Steelwheelers, Northeast Passage Wildcats, and two teams from the host squad Magee Eagles.

Saturday is always action packed. Each team played three games, battling it out to get the top spot in their pool and one step closer to winning the tournament. After 12 matches, with tons of scoring and crashing, the Northeast Passage Wildcats and Medstar NRH Punishers each won the top spot in their pool.

On Sunday, the Wildcats and Punishers played for the tournament title, and the rest of the field battled for their highest possible standings. The title match was close throughout, and finally the Northeast Passage Wildcats won by two points, with a final score of 45-43.
