Former Olympian Takes First Steps Since Spinal Cord Injury

You may remember earlier this summer reading news about Amy Van Dyken-Rouen, the Olympian gold-medal swimmer. But this news wasn’t about setting a new record. Amy was in an ATV accident in which she sustained a spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed from the waist down.

She left the hospital this week, and shared a very exciting video on Instagram. Take a look:

This is incredible! While we are not quite sure what she is using in this video, it looks very similar to our Ekso, which is  an adjustable, portable, bionic exoskeleton designed to help patients with lower-extremity paralysis or weakness stand up and walk.  We wish Amy the best of luck as she continues her journey!
