The Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens is Now Open!

Wednesday, May 17 was an incredibly exciting day at Magee, as we cut the ribbon declaring the Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens on the rooftop at Magee officially open. This bright and beautiful new oasis features multiple healing gardens outside that are sure to brighten anyone’s day.

Duffy Avenue and Windows to the City

Segal Street, where patients can practice navigating a curb cut, use a ramp, or learn how to transfer in a car, has been completely redone and is ready to help patients build confidence. Duffy Avenue will provide a fun place for patients and family members to get out of their rooms and enjoy the sun. They will also get a great view to the city now that the brick walls have been replaced with glass “Windows to the City.”

Art Therapy Gallery

The inside of the 6th floor is just as spectacular and features an expanded and open atrium. The Resource Center is back in a new home, and when we speak of new homes, our thriving Art Therapy program now has a beautiful home, in a spacious new studio. Just outside the Art Therapy Studio are two Art Therapy Galleries featuring artwork created by Magee patients. The Three Seasons Therapy Area will provide an open space for therapists and patients to work together in a bright and cheery environment to accomplish their goals. Two other new additions will meet important needs for our patients, family members, and staff, as they now will have a quiet haven for reflection in the Spirituality Center and outdoor Meditation Garden.

Healing Gardens

Atrium

This project began as an idea six years ago, and involved input from patients, family members, clinicians, architects, and members of the community. Plans were created and attention to the needs of our patients was the number one priority. It took a little longer than we expected to get to this point, but we now have, without a doubt, an amazing place to be enjoyed by all.

We are grateful to the 640 donors who gave $2.1 million to help bring this transformational project to life. Many of the new spaces are named in honor or memory of individuals, and key donors are recognized on a beautiful tile donor wall.
