Comcast Cares Day: Spring Cleanup at Magee

On Earth Day, we are reminded to care for the environment, and some local organizations and volunteers helped to make Magee’s world brighter for our patients and their families this past Monday.

On, April 23, more than 45 Comcast Cares Day team members joined us for a spring cleanup day at Magee, helping with spring planting in our visitor parking area. Some of the plants and gardening supplies were donated by Comcast, and some were donated by the Philadelphia Flower Show. Volunteers also assisted by making packets and binders for various departments at Magee.

The day began with a welcome from Magee’s executive team, who was joined by this year’s Comcast Cares Day project coordinator, Scott Armstrong of the My Abilities Employee Resource Group at Comcast. The morning also included a tour of Magee’s Smart Room and AYA (Adolescent Young Adult) Suite in an effort to educate visitors about the adaptive equipment that helps our patients with the use of technology.

Volunteers received a tour of the Smart Room and AYA Suite at Magee.

In 2018, more than 100,000 Comcast and NBCUniversal employees and their families, friends, and community partners will volunteer at 1,000+ community improvement projects in over 20 countries worldwide. Comcast Cares Day is the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort and serves as a powerful representation of the company’s year-round commitment to community service. This year, Comcast will also surpass an exciting benchmark: more than one million volunteers have participated in this amazing company tradition since 2001.

Our sincerest thanks go out to all the Comcast Cares Day team members who helped to beautify Magee!
