CNA of the Year: Meet Tiffany Crooms

As a speech-language-pathologist (SLP) working at Magee, I am blessed to be a part of such a dedicated and compassionate multidisciplinary team. All of the doctors, nurses, aides, and therapists work together to help patients believe in a way back and reach their optimal level of independence. During my time at Magee, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated and caring certified nursing assistant (CNA) named Tiffany who goes above and beyond every day! She cares about her patients and is always willing to lend an extra hand to those who need it. Today, learn a little bit more about her:

Tell us a little bit about your background.

I was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey and moved to Philly in 1994. After high school, I went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia where I received my associate’s degree in business. After working in sales for a while, I heard about a CNA program and decided to learn more about it. I’ve been doing what I love ever since!

Why did you decide to become a CNA?

It’s a long story but I will try to sum it up for you as best I can. After I received my business degree, I started working as a sales associate in a place called Filene’s Basement. I wasn’t really making the money I wanted to make and knew I wanted to help people in some other way. I found out about a program to become a CNA and the rest is history! I thought my job working as a nursing assistant would be temporary but I learned to love caring for individuals and their families. I realized getting to help people during such tough and trying times in their lives was more rewarding than just helping them pick out clothes.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of being a CNA at Magee is actually getting to be a part of the patient’s recovery during their stay. I love being able to watch them progress and enjoy seeing them come back to visit after they are discharged. It’s a good feeling knowing I was part of a patients care.

What are some of your passions outside of work?

I love to sew when I have free time but most of all I enjoy spending time with my loving family.

Congrats again to Tiffany – you earned it!
